Hydrogen or Electric Buses – do we need to choose?

Hydrogen or Electric Buses – do we need to choose?

Posted: 08 October 2021

On Tuesday 19th October, Andrew Jarvis, Managing Director of First Bus Scotland, will describe their experience of introducing the world’s first fleet of double decker hydrogen buses into service in Aberdeen. He will contrast and compare this with electric buses.

The first 15 hydrogen buses – in a project led by Aberdeen City Council – were launched into service in Aberdeen in January 2021. A further 10 buses (funded by the Scottish Government’s Energy Transition Fund) were added in March 2021, taking Aberdeen’s total hydrogen double decker bus fleet to 25. Each vehicle plays a major role in reducing Aberdeen’s carbon footprint by saving 84 tonnes of carbon per year per bus.

The meeting will be from 5.30 to 7pm and will be run using Zoom.
