City-Wide Transport Survey confirms need for Improved Bus Frequencies

Posted: 12 January 2020

The results of the City-Wide Transport Survey – run in September 2019 by York Civic Trust in conjunction with York Bus Forum and York Environment Forum – were published on 10th January. See: http://yorkcivictrust.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Qa-YorkTransport-Report-printer-friendly.pdf

York Bus Forum has been pressing both bus operators and the Council to improve bus frequencies, including evenings and Sundays. The survey confirms the demand for this by both residents and commuters. We have also been pressing for a review of the bus network to ensure that it meets the needs of residents in Outer York. It is clear from their survey responses that such a review is long overdue.

The responses to the survey will feed into the next Local Transport Plan, work on which is now expected to be started next year.

A Citizens’ Transport Forum, drawn from those who completed the survey, will shortly be established to discuss and review the implications of the responses, and to work with the Council as it develops its Plan.
